Stoney bought the first machine: A Haas Mini Mill. Shortly afterward hired our first employee and bought a second machine: A Haas SL20 Lathe.
In order to grow, he realized the need for three-phase power and another Lathe for CNC Turning, allowing full quality control for service delivery.
HDS moved to its own shop, a larger location in Hennopspark.
We acquired a Haas SL20 Lathe (collet chuck), providing more accuracy.
We acquired a Haas VF3 (fully integrated 310mm 4th-axis).
We needed more space (again) and relocated to a factory shop in Sutherland.
We also purchased a Haas VF8 Milling machine.
With the business growing and having numerous machines, we decided to build a custom-designed factory shop just down the road.
We acquired a Samsung PL35 Lathe, concluding our sixth CNC machining purchase.
HDS joined as a member of the PtSA (Production Technologies Association of South Africa) and participates in training students and artisans in the industry.
We take in around six to eight trainees annually through an OTJ (on-the-job) Training Programme.
Load Shedding in South Africa worsens, and HDS needs a solution. We purchased a 110KvA Volvo Generator, allowing uninterrupted 24-hour shifts (regardless of Load Shedding).
Our founder, Stoney Steenkamp, joins as a Board Member of the PtSA.
We have a skilled team of ten employees (including night-shift personnel), three OTJ trainees, three CNC Milling, and three CNC Turning machines.
